I dream art

My name is Ibrahim, I graduated from the law college in Egypt. Despite my education in law, I could not stop thinking of being an artist.

I draw and paint from very young age; learned every thing by trying over and over again and never give up.

I had quite good job in my uncle’s office as a lawyer, but moved to Sharm El Shiekh, the tourism city in Egypt despite my uncle and family’s disapproval. There, I worked in cafes and restaurants, with very little income, I starved for many years.

I always knew I meant to be an artist. One day, I passed by an art gallery in the mall and start coming there for months. The gallery man asked me why I’m coming here every single night, I said that I love to look at paintings. He asked if I can paint, I replied “Yes, but I’m still a beginner”. He said “OK, would you like work with me?” And I work as an artist ever since; this was in 2003.

I learned every thing I could, practiced on 1000s of paintings and I sold 1000s of paintings; then I learned languages like English and some Russian and Italian and became a good seller and painter.

In 2008 I opened my first gallery. Unfortunately, with problems in Egypt from 2011 to 2013 and the flight crash in 2015, tourist stop coming and my gallery business ended. I lost my gallery, my job and everything. They interviewed me as an artist on air on my local city satellite channel where I sad that I still have hope and will never give up.

Now, I’m learning graphic design, traveling to Cairo twice a week to become a designer in one company.

Art has always been the most important thing in my life; without art I can’t live like normal people.

I always admit to be an academic in something. There are many things, however that are not easy to learn by myself. like fundamental principles of drawing, human anatomy for artists, classical drawing methods…
