Story from Diane Stolz
Foundation Drawing Art
I grew up in NYC with composer parents and artsy grandmother. Art has always been a hallmark of my existence along with the piano and great composers. The two have a significant part in my life! My sister took the subway into NYC from Forest Hills to study art at the Art Students League when she was 11 and we moved out on the island when I reached that age and never got to study in NYC at that time. As I grew and held jobs, I took evening courses and Sat courses and workshops in Watercolor with Zoltan Szabo, and as the years passed I attended the Artist’s Magazine Weekends and Plein Air Conventions! I had classes with Rob Liberace, Daniel Gerhartz and one amazing workshop with David Leffel! I love the classic approach and have little use for many of the so called art of today’s fashion!
My challenge is to be more proficient rendering details and shading in charcoal and graphite…to be classical in approach.
The Drawing Academy has fine goals and quality teaching. I’d like to win as I am getting older and cannot afford to travel as much to study art…I would value this course immensely
I think people should vote for me as I have made strides in my art and have won National Awards in Pastel and recently made an Elected Member of AAPL in NYC where I won two awards in the last 10 years!
