Drawing Gets Me Through Most Days

I spent my entire childhood thinking I would be some kind of scientist. I was smart, I was dedicated, I went to a nerd school and graduated with an Associate’s before my GED. I plowed ahead, thinking that things would be just as easy as they had before – but then life clubbed me over the head and things just sort of fell apart. On the other side looking back, I realize that the one thing that kept me from going completely insane was art. It keeps me grounded and gives me an outlet, and if I were to ever stop drawing I’m sure I would messily explode.

The kind of drawing that Drawing Academy teaches is the kind of drawing that brings out the essence of its subject. It makes you stop and think “wow, I didn’t know the human body could be so beautiful.” I want to be able to capture that feeling. Right now I feel like I’m in a place where my hands haven’t caught up to my eyes – I see what my art could become but I don’t yet have the skill to get me there.

I expect Drawing Academy to help me build a foundation that will help me explore and grow in my art journey. Because with art, as with everything else in life, you never really stop learning.
