Seeing the bigger picture
Question from Daniel, Drawing Academy student
Hi,
I’m a huge manga, anime and fantasy fan and that’s mostly how I like to draw. What are your thoughts towards this style of drawing combined with this course? And can I choose where to start? For example, my first goal is to become better at drawing manga in a more realistic way.
Do you have any other recommendations as to how can I improve my drawing skills?
Thanks!
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
Many thanks for your questions.
We would suggest that you start from this video:

Although this video lesson is created for complete beginners, even advanced students find it very useful.
Regarding manga/anime/fantasy – you need to see the bigger picture. Strong drawing skills will be helpful for whatever style you choose to create in.
The best artists who are working in such styles have to know fundamental topics of drawing like linear and aerial perspective, human anatomy and body proportions, rules of composition, golden proportions, etc. The knowledge of these universal principles will help you to create better artworks in any style you choose.
So, our advice is: study basics, get fundamental knowledge, know-how and experience, and then apply it to your creative works.
We hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Natalie Richy and Vladimir London
