Reminiscence – African Queen
Artwork by Susan van Zyl
As far as I can remember, I always admired artists with their beautiful renditions and artworks. I even tried my hand at drawing when a fellow student in my class (about 30 years ago) drew cartoonish female drawings and I decided there and then, that I want to be an artist.
My life followed a path where I could not become an artist right away, but that did not deter from my wish from 30 years ago or hindered me to try anyway. I tried my hand at everything! Life was a blast, as I discovered more and more mediums, I was so amazed at the creativity of people and thought how wonderful it would be if everybody can experience the joy of being creative with a brush, pencil or pen.
16 years ago, in Holland, I got my first tuition and that got me started and excited!
We moved back to South Africa and this is where I am planted for now.
One is NEVER to old to learn new things and that is why I am doing this competition. I want to learn new things and hopefully transfer those newly acquired knowledge to other beings!
