Recreation da vinci drawing
Artwork by Hoan K Luu
It has been a tremendous improvement for me since I’ve taken the Drawing Academy course. Here is the recreation follow one of da Vinci’s drawing, however, I sneaked in a bit of my own shading.
Any critique is more than welcome. Thank you very much for having a look at my work.
Cheers

Nice work. I like it. Da Vinci is tough to render. I just submitted one of my own the Madonna from Leonardo’s Madonna of the Yarnwinder in Silverpoint. My biggest difficulty is the eyes in these drawings and the subtlety of the jaw line. The Old Masters had a very distinctive way of drawing the eyes. I have tried the same drawing that you submitted and have not been able to do it well. For some reason I can never get it right. I have seen originals of Leonardo’s drawings and his line is so distinct and subtle to be almost impossible to duplicate. I have even traced one of his drawings and transferred it to paper and tried to duplicate it and it still never looked right. But I am working on my own line and my own technique. I don’t want to be a copyist. Good luck and keep on drawing.
