My first constructive drawing

My first constructive drawing

Story and artwork from Els, Drawing Academy student

It’s been a couple of months since I enrolled in the Drawing Academy course and I have been learning so much.

I used to draw a lot as a child and teenager but felt I didn’t have enough talent to pursue it further. Years later I decided to take painting classes. We used to trace the photo onto the panel. This felt more like making an exact copy rather than creating something original. I wanted to understand more about the shape and essence of the subjects I was drawing. I had a very limited knowledge of human anatomy and already after a couple of lessons I started to notice mistakes in drawings I did before. I ended up realizing that my true passion is pastel drawing and this course is helping me enormously in making more anatomically correct drawings.

This is my first constructive drawing.

Thank you,
Els
