I need to become a better artist

I have been drawing from my earliest days and enjoy it immensely. My lifelong passion for drawing and art has never waned, it is integral to my being. I have been lucky to have been given encouragement from family and instructors throughout my life.

But in my pursuit of improvement of my skills there has been a lack of foundational knowledge. Even when I finally enrolled as an art major there was a lack in building upon foundational concepts and skills. For example, at the university the painting instructor I had said, ‘just paint’ after teaching how to stretch canvas, leaving me bewildered in my quest for knowledge and excellence. Gaps of enormous size were increasing instead of diminishing! I knew something was missing.

I never knew there was an answer for this until I stumbled across this website and videos! I have always wished for a mentor artist to help me improve!

I am eager to go back and rebuild the foundational skills I need to become a better artist. This course is a step towards excellence in drawing in order to reach my goals.
