ART CAN TELL WHAT WORDS CAN’T SAY
Telling about myself is not an easy task for me. This month I will be 58 years old. Over the years I lost my self-confidence and my strength. To recover from a depression and an Anxiety Disorder I live a very isolated life with only my dog and cat. My family and children live far awy as wel as a very few friends. The thing is that it is very hard to me to express myself in words.
A few years ago when I started to draw and paint again after many years, my partner (in that time), told me that there was so much pain in my art, a pain I never could express in words, was clearly visual in my art. And it was the only thing that helped me to get stronger, step by step. Where medication and therapy failed, art gave me a way to deal with my wounds and heal them.
I already enrolled the Old Masters Academy and I am really surprised by the professional quality of the lessons. To do good paintings however I have to learn to make good constructive drawings. As I use my art for expressing my inside world, it is important to me to have a good understanding of the human body, and how the body behaves in a certain position.
My art is not only a healing-process, but is also a message for people who suffer, that there is always a way to defeat your own demons.
As I mentioned above, I live my life almost like a hermit. Without social media to rely on, I do hope for your votes for this competition.
