Artwork by Jane Wong
Never too old
I started painting and drawing 10 years ago after I retired from a career in finance. It was time to use the other half of my brain and I was sure it still functioned. I am always thinking about art in my everyday life. I also read about art history, the science of art, and art techniques. I have tried working in watercolor, oil, charcoal, graphite, and colored pencil. I have explored different syles of painting, and I have found that the realist style suits me (maybe because of my finance background.)
I have learned that I need to start with the basics as was taught in the ateliers. I have tried drawing from casts and from Bargue plates, but I need a lot more instruction. I am hoping to get that from the Drawing Academy course.
People should vote for me because it is never too late to learn how to draw. Art is not a “hobby” for me. I am passionate about it and I intend to become a good artist.
