Using pen and manilla, also circles as form of texture, I created an artwork entitled-“Circles”, as I tell a story inspired by a birthday photo and an epic dream. Looking through a photo album, I was drawn to a birthday photo which reminded me of repetitive events. I tried to view a picture of what always happens every year, the excitement, fulfilment and aspirations. In such regard, I questioned myself, ” where would we be if we took advantage and proper use of repetitive events?” Birthday may not be the only event that occurs in a cycle or circle but also others such as dreaming every time we sleep. I can’t count how many dreams I have encountered if each represented a circle-big or small. But one of these stood out amongst the rest, one that I may tag as “Evolution of Humans”. In such a dream, I witnessed vehicles levitate, turn into smoke merging themselves onto a building and vice versa. My eyes shone in excitement as my friend explained how technology was at its edge (humanity had evolved). The explanation was “Vehicles turn into information which aligns itself in the central building in town and reconstructs itself to be used by the owner upon need.” hmm…., it was an epic dream.
My greatest challenge in art is to identify the mistakes that I may not notice or consider to be a “don’t”. I would love to be better, a refinement that may make me a better artist.
Drawing Academy is and has been one of my best learning platforms, a guide that has been part of my art journey. Winning this course to me is a dream come true in my circles of attempts to be.
