My name is Ananya, and I’m from Calcutta, India. I have dreamed of being a professional artist since my teens. Up until this point I worked in education. It wasn’t until I was 29 that I was able to take a professional course in Florence, Italy. This changed everything for me and made me believe that I can pursue art, even now and it’s not too late. The academic training made me determined to better myself in my work and practice. I could only attend a short course in drawing and painting, since it was quite expensive. Now I practice and work on my own, getting as much information as I can online.
– What place art takes in your life? – It’s the path I want to choose for myself professionally. Just the act of painting, gives me immense joy and if I could sustain myself through the one thing that I love the most, there would be nothing greater than that!
– What challenges do you have in art? – I was told by my teachers and I feel so too, that I have a good understanding of colours and how they work, but my drawing weak. I take a lot of time, and a lot of tweaks and corrections before my drawing is final. It’s also the one place I lack confidence.
– What do you want to learn in art? – I want to strengthen my drawing skills but I cannot attend another professional course overseas and in India the art education is quite limited.
– What do you think about Drawing Academy? – I think the Drawing academy is a fantastic course that offers so much knowledge. My teachers at the Academy in Florence were from Russia and taught the constructive method of drawing, which I learnt was a crucial way to approach drawing. The Drawing academy teaches in a similar way, and follows the methods of the old masters, which I believe is the way for me to move forward.
– Why do you want to win the Drawing Academy course? – I want to establish myself as an independent artist and want to strengthen my skills. I cannot at this point afford another professional course and therefore I’m learning with whatever is available online. However I need to be careful about the teachers online as well, because there are a lot of different methods, and too many ways can becoming confusing or even counter-productive. I trust the method of the Drawing Academy and therefore want to seriously work with the teachers and follows their method.
– Why people should vote for you? – because I love art, and I will truly commit to the course and because I believe people want to love and support someone in their dream! Having said that, I think everyone is a worthy candidate
