Hello, my name is Kemi. I’m from Nigeria and I’ve been drawing since I was 12. I’m currently 23 so I’ve been drawing for 11 years.

Art has always been a part of me. Whether it’s in the form of poetry, music or drawing. Drawing was the only way I could express myself and escape reality and it gave me comfort throughout my high school days. Even though I was scorned and mocked for wanting to be an artist I never gave up on it. I just loved it. It’s the only thing I can say I’m partially good at

As an artist from a third world country, getting supplies is very difficult and since recently, it’s been even harder. I got into digital drawing and I couldn’t really get a standard tablet until 2022. I was always drawing with a mouse or my hand. Also there aren’t many art schools where you can learn the basics and online classes are really expensive.

What I want to learn in art is how to be more expressive with my art. I want to be able to portray a type of feeling or scenario more clearly and to improve on my perspective and figure drawings.

I really want to win the Drawing Academy course because I always go through the website and see so many classes to take but I can’t afford most of the ones I want and I really want to grow more as an artist because it’s a part of me I don’t want to fade away.
