I finished my N6 in Graphics Design and Photography at Cape College. I gave my CV out everywhere, but no one was hiring. Luckily a friend of mine said her son was opening a game reserve and he had a job for me. That was 17yrs ago and I have been in travel ever since also offering my help in non-profit organizations. I hardly had time to draw or paint but knew it was always my passion. Only recently have I gotten back to drawing and doing what I love, painted my first oil painting of an eagle’s head in 2014.

I believe I was born with a paintbrush in my hand. As far as I can remember, if a creative or artistic project was presented at school, I would thrive. I am a creative and I come alive when I find myself sketching, painting and doing what I love.

I know I could paint or draw so much better but don’t know how to use my mediums 100%. I want to learn how to draw better, how to use my materials better, how to paint more realistic than what I do now as I love realism especially of the Old Masters. They had a story to their work and emotion, and I want that.

Absolutely love the Drawing Academy and just from the emails I have already received I have learnt so much and realised there is so much more to art.

I would love to win to sharpen my skill telling emotional stories that will leave people breathless.

I have never had the opportunity to study art and I am almost 40, I believe I am pushing aside the pressures of life and want to live my dream of becoming a full-time artist. Every vote would be appreciated.
