The beauty of art never dies

The beauty of art never dies

Story and artwork from Madeline Garbo

As a young child, I came to realise that there is beauty in everything, even if it is flawed. Now, at 20, I look upon the old masters of the art world and realise that their creations reflect the notion that beauty never dies. I never focused completely on strengthening my form of art until the beginning of this year. And I know I’m not perfect. But nothing is. As Leonard Da Vinci said “a beautiful body perishes, but a work of art dies not.” This compelling pull to find beauty in an imperfect world is where art takes me. It brings emotions that shows me the true beauty of the imperfect world I live in. The entire imperfect universe is a canvas of beauty.

My challenges I face in art are that I never focused hard enough to perfect my work. I struggle with depth and scale and I lack the understanding of blending paints and pencil on a canvas. I wish to learn how the old master painted and sketched through practice, not just by their words. I want to perfect my craft and transform myself into a better artist like the masters once did as they too were once students to great teachers.

Drawing Academy has given me the chance to achieve my dreams and goals. It’s amazing that I randomly stumbled upon them because it was as if it was a sign to me not to give up, reassuring me that I’m on the right path. The teachers methods of teaching and skills make me feel like I’m one of the students of the old masters and brings me a sense of enlightenment and joy that I too have a chance to bring beauty to this world.
Even if I don’t win, the experiences I have had and will have with them is more then enough because I finally feel that I’m accomplishing something I can be truly proud of.

If I were to win that would be something I actually didn’t see coming. I hope that during this lifetime I can strive to achieve the level of quality and beauty the old masters had when they created their masterpieces. It would show me even more how beautiful this world is, even if it isn’t perfect, by showing me how far I can go and what creations I can bring upon this world for future generations to gaze upon and find the true beauty and inspiration of their world too.

I guess the main reason you should vote for me is so I may have this chance to bring more beauty to this world. It will allow me to delve deeper into the art world to explore further this notion of finding true beauty in an imperfect world as the beauty of art never dies.
