Town of wooden toys

Hello,

This is a still life drawing of some wooden toys, drawn from life. The lamp was set left and above the objects.

I would like to know what can I improve. Your opinion is very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi Debora,

Thank you very much for your still life drawing. I like it very much; it is a really fine artwork.

Your drawing has a special feeling of warmth and calmness. This is not just a still life. This artwork tells the story and brings us in the world of a child who plays with those toys.

There are some small bits that other artists might do differently – giving more attention to precise perspective, accurately plotting cast shadows, depicting tonal values of reflected light a bit darker…

But I don’t think you need to change anything in this drawing because it is a very personal, creative and original piece of art and you, as an artist, have all rights to play by your own rules, presenting your view of the world to a viewer.

It is great that you draw from life. Please keep sharing your future artworks with us.

To your creative success,
