I’m glad that you are in the world

I was never very good at art when I was growing up and this is a fact that I always found painful. Something in me needed to be able to draw. So after I finished education I started to teach myself from books and on the internet.
This piece that I have submitted is a portrait of my great nephew. You know how families are when a baby is born into them. People rally round giving practical gifts and doing practical things for the new parents. Literally the only thing that I could think to do that would express how I felt was paint a portrait of him. Not exactly the most practical gift to give a baby but it was the only way that I knew how to say, I’m glad you are in the world.
Drawing is something that I need to do to express myself but I have never had proper lessons. I would love to learn how to draw properly.
