For giving up on a dream is the end of human hope
Artwork and story from Filipe Wanderson
Born in Porteirinha – MG, I lived on music for a long time. As in any city in the interior of Brazil, there was demand from parents to enroll in a college. I had to move to another city since my hometown didn’t have colleges.
I joined the Faculty of Information Systems. While studying Information Systems I started an internship at a software company. There I could understand that the life I was leading was not the one I was looking for in my future.
Even without any talent, I decided to dedicate myself to the area of drawing. My drawing level was the same as a six-year-old. People thought it was just a phase that I would soon give up and look for something else to occupy myself. During my journey I got married. I have a beautiful one year old son. The need for money came on strong. I deviated from the artistic path to work with judicial expertise.
It’s been three years since I decided that one day I would work in art. I haven’t stopped drawing for a single day. Even if I don’t get a career with drawing, I will keep trying. For giving up on a dream is the end of human hope.
