I am continuing with drawing lessons according to Drawing Academy lesson plan.
In order to learn correctly and understand constructive drawing, face proportions in different views, tonal rendering, hatching, etc., I made this drawing of Amazon’s head. Never, in my wildest dreams I would dare to expect to draw something like this up till now. I consider these drawings as reference drawings to which I can return time and again when drawing from life, as needed.
Question
In order to be able to preserve the drawings from smudging I would like to know if fixative used for charcoal and pastel would do the job or is there another way of preserving the drawings?
Answer
Yes, it is perfectly fine to use for graphite artworks the same fixative as for charcoal or pastel. Keep in mind though that no fixative fully protects an artwork, so it should be handled with care.
