Kari Contemplating Life

I am a seventy-six year old woman who lives in the country surrounded by beautiful mountains.

I have had no formal art training. I am self taught in many mediums but my favorite would have to be water colors. I have been painting with different mediums for over 40 years. Paintings as small as a 2 inch square and as large as a wall. Some were sold but most were given to family members and close friends.

Art fills a void in my life that I did not know was there. My days and evenings are spent at my art table creating different forms of art. I love painting and bringing life to a blank page. I enjoy the challenge of trying new forms of painting. I would love to be able to take art classes however, I have COPD and a husband who is bed fast with Parkinson’s and dementia so I have been house bound for the last 3 years.

I have recently started pencil drawing and I would like to draw faces. I find it extremely challenging to correctly depict facial features. My wish is to be able to draw my beloved family members. I feel the Drawing Academy would be able to help me reach my dream and learn how to draw facial features.

Winning this competition could help me learn how to draw facial features and many other things. That’s why I would like to win.
