Before the Drawing Academy course, I was drawing and painting what I SEE. The reason why I took this drawing course is because I wanted to learn how to draw what I KNOW.

For example, buildings in this pre-course painting (Santorini Greece) have different angles and look unbalanced. So, I decided to learn fundamental principles of drawing to improve my skills.

Now I understand well 1-point, 2-point and 3-point perspective. I can better judge angles and distances, which is important.

I also learnt more about human anatomy and what lies beneath the skin. This knowledge helps me to draw with the knowledge and confidence.

I really appreciate the step-by-step teaching Drawing Academy lessons provide.

Drawing skills really help me to paint. I use what I learned in the drawing course to make under-drawings for paintings.

The biggest difference since I took the course is that I start loving to draw. I didn’t know that there are so many drawing techniques and the way various materials show different texture. Drawing is deep and very interesting to learn.

Story and artworks from Harumi Kiyota, Drawing Academy graduateThe Drawing Academy’s curriculum is great; it is easy to learn here with my own schedule. So I would like to recommend this course to everyone who wants to learn drawing.

Drawing is the foundation of all arts. I wish I could find Drawing Academy years ago. I can access all course video lessons at anytime, and I keep coming back to refresh my memory and repeat exercises.

Thank you very much,
Harumi Kiyota
