My Very First Figure Drawing
Drawing by Alex Saldivar, Drawing Academy student
Hello, my name is Alex and I love drawing and art in general.
I have always wanted to be a better artist and never knew why I couldn’t draw from imagination. I eventually gave up on art but decided to pick it up again about two years ago because I finally found the secret I never knew about. I found that to be better at art and to draw from imagination I not only had to practice daily, but I had to learn the basics. This included shapes, forms, value, perspective and all the other basics of drawing.
From childhood, I always had the bad habit of drawing from observation incorrectly. That is, I would begin my drawings from the outside in. I never knew that to do a great drawing a foundation such as measurements, proportions and the use of basic shapes to mold my drawings was the actual way to start a drawing.
Now that I practice each day, I have seen a tremendous improvement in my work. I have been practice figure drawing basics for the past couple of months. Human anatomy is one of the things I practice a lot and love to do. The human anatomy intrigues me because of its beauty and aesthetic personality.
I finally drew a full length, detailed drawing applying what I’ve learned. Although I know it’s not the best piece of work, I like how it came out. I know with more practice I will create better drawings in the future.
it is amazing I think you should’ve not gave up drawing but it is nice to know that there is a lot of people trying to make there dreams come true after all
Nice work! Keep on improving…You’re an inspiration to me to do more practice…
