I create, therefore I am

I create, therefore I am

Artwork by Rena

Having recommenced drawing after 30 years of ‘silence’, on a day I got laid off, I could no longer deny the need for creative self-expression. I’m fascinated by a human body, it’s universal anatomy, and at the same time that unique detail that makes every person unlike any other.

To me art is a possibility, a privilege of trying to capture a temporary nature of life and seek understanding…

I live in Sobral in Ceará, in the northeast of the states; there are no drawing schools here!

I am very interested in art! I would love to learn classical drawing from a teacher who really mastered it!

Traveling to other towns that are far away to study drawing is not an option for me.

Searching the internet I found the Drawing Academy, where I realized that this must be one of the best schools that teach traditional art! …

The world in my eyes is too miraculous and capricious to be rendered in any other way than painting and this is the very reason why I have kept drawing stubbornly even after my own father yelled at me, “You are not the material!” I haven’t had a chance to receive any formal artistic education but I’ve been inspired by so many remarkable and respectful artists who share the same obsession with arts. To bring out my reverie onto paper is my dream. Or rather, it is my mission…

Dedication

Dedication

Artwork by Shaweta Bahl

As a busy mom and wife, I took up art about 5 years back as an escape from the household responsibilities. Soon, under the apt guidance of my art teacher, it became my passion. He has always pushed me to take every art piece to the next level of skill and refinement without expecting perfection but embracing the learning that comes in the process. He constantly motivates me to approach each piece as an observing student and an insightful artist …
