Art is my happy place

Like most people I have drawn and painted from an early age but was taught nothing at school, in those days Art wasn’t seen as important. Since leaving school life seems to get in the way. I’ve worked and brought up a family but always squeezed in a little drawing where I could. It keeps me sane and happy.

My challenges have always been accuracy, my portraits have a likeness but they are always a little ‘off’ somehow and I struggle with perspective. I never realise it’s not right until the end then I don’t know how to make it right and have to leave it. I would really love to learn how to make art that I am happy with, that I feel is good enough. I want to learn the techniques that artists use to produce art. I really want to be able to say ‘WOW did I do that?’.

I subscribed to Drawing Academy a while ago and am really grateful for the advice you give freely but would love to be able to immerse myself in the full course experience.

I had a serious accident last year and wasn’t able to use my hands for a while. As my injuries improved my son kept holding out a pencil and telling me to try. After a while I gave it a go and was happy to find that I could still draw and although I have to do it in shorter bursts now nothing else has changed. It’s made me realise how much I love art, I do it all the time and I feel that I am really improving. So to win the course would be the icing on the cake. It would give me the chance to produce the kind of art I feel I can if given the right training.

I want people to vote for me because I feel that with the hard work and great tuition I could become quite good and realise a lifelong dream to produce quality art that I am really happy with.
