Never too old

I am currently enjoying retirement with time to take on new interests. I was introduced to art like most children. Drawing, fingerpainting, paint by number, etc. I was one of those kids that always had to be creating something, especially animals. I was lucky that the Toledo Art Museum offered a course in perspective. Even though at a young age it was well above my ability a lot regarding the class actually stuck. More importantly however was my introduction to the classics, the Masters. Sculpture, paintings, blown glass, metal works, carvings….etc. Art has always had an important place in my life. My parents had friends over one evening and one of them proceeded to draw a portrait of my Father. It was a wonderful likeness. From that moment on I wanted to be able to do that. Most of my portraits however lack life. They tend to have a stiffness about them. I would like to be able to draw “true likeness”. I am impressed with the before and after drawings and paintings of people that have taken this course. I would love to be one of the “chosen” to also take the course. We are never to old to follow even old dreams.
