Art has always been a part of my life since a young age, always liked to draw, and enjoyed the creations artist’s made in comic books. I would try to draw the figures I saw in the books, but always had trouble making them myself.

I wanted a career as an artist, but my dad talked me out of that idea. He told me artists were a dime a dozen so I should forget about it. I did notice there seemed to be so many people who could do fine artwork so I forgot about being an artist and it’s been my hobby ever since.

Now I’m 76 years old, retired, and still love to draw. My favorite artist has always been Frank Frazetta because he could create characters. I look at a blank piece of paper, and want to create something, but nothing happens. Then I’ll touch pencil to paper, and something starts to take shape, then one thing leads to another until the scene, whatever it is completes itself? I also Liked Michael Angelo because he could create characters from his own minds eye. I also liked to sculpt, but gave that up.

About Drawing Academy, this is new to me, and seems a fun thing to try as I still love art.

Why do I want to win Drawing Academy course? It would be a dream come true, as a teenager I was going to send in an art test for a Norman Rockwell art course. I still have the completed art test booklet which I finished, but never set in since my Father, God rest his soul, he always looked out for me. Well he thought I’d be wasting my money if they accepted me.

Why people should vote for me? Good Golly Ms’ Molly, that’s a good question. I really don’t have a good answer except to say they’d be making an old wanna be artist very happy.
